After a relatively quiet period for the franchise, Power Rangers is finally showing signs of major momentum again — and not just in one area. Multiple new projects are currently in development, ranging from live-action reboots to ambitious comic expansions that could unite decades of Ranger history.

Among those upcoming releases, one project is already standing out as potentially the most exciting of the bunch: Power Rangers Unlimited. Not only does the series promise crossover opportunities on a scale fans have rarely seen before, but it will also introduce an entirely new Ranger to the franchise.

A New Ranger Takes Center Stage

According to an official description from Penguin Random House (via @Ranger_esp), the upcoming series will be led by a mysterious new hero known as the Striking Tiger Unlimited Ranger.

Unlike other recent Power Rangers projects that focus on specific eras or characters, Power Rangers Unlimited will reportedly pull from over 30 years of franchise continuity. That means the series can incorporate elements from every television season, comic storyline, and Ranger team in franchise history.

The official synopsis reveals that the story begins on Aquitar — home of the Alien Rangers — where a secretive base serves as the headquarters for the Striking Tiger Unlimited Ranger. From there, Rangers from across time and space are assembled into an elite team to combat a growing threat.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether this lineup will remain consistent throughout the series or rotate between different Rangers over time. Either approach, however, opens the door for long-awaited team-ups fans have imagined for years.

 The Franchise’s New Comic Era

Power Rangers Unlimited is part of a larger publishing initiative that also includes:

Each title explores a different corner of the franchise.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers will revisit the original team 10 years after their Ranger days ended, offering a more mature continuation of the classic story.

Meanwhile, Power Rangers: Green centers on an older Tommy Oliver, now positioned as the last remaining Ranger.

Unlimited, however, appears to be the most expansive project of the three. Because it can draw from every era of the franchise, it has the potential to deliver crossover stories on a scale similar to fan-favorite events like Shattered Grid — but on a regular basis.

A Dream Scenario for Fans

Historically, large-scale Power Rangers crossovers have been relatively rare outside of anniversary specials and comic events. That’s why Power Rangers Unlimited feels especially promising.

The concept of Rangers from different timelines, universes, and teams joining forces has long been one of the franchise’s biggest “what if” scenarios. Events like Shattered Grid proved just how exciting multiversal storytelling could be for the series, and Unlimited seems designed to embrace that idea fully.

If executed well, the comic could become the definitive crossover platform for the franchise — one capable of pairing together Rangers and teams fans never expected to see side-by-side.

Creative Team and Release Date

Power Rangers Unlimited will be written by Joey Esposito (Batman: Urban Legends) and Kenny Porter (The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive), with artwork by Alessio Zonno (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III).

The series is currently scheduled to debut on July 1st, 2026.
