Universal Pictures has officially unveiled the trailer for its upcoming romantic comedy One Night Only, featuring Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner in the lead roles. The film is directed by Will Gluck, best known for hit rom-coms like Anyone but You , Easy A, and Friends With Benefits.
Set in a slightly fictionalized version of New York City, One Night Only follows Allie (Barbaro) and Owen (Turner), two strangers navigating heartbreak and loneliness during a unique annual event where single people are encouraged to seek casual connections for one night only.
According to the official synopsis, recently dumped Owen and hopeless romantic Allie unexpectedly cross paths and instantly feel a connection. However, a series of chaotic missteps, detours, and unexpected encounters keep pulling them apart as they make their way across the city through one unforgettable night. Despite the distractions and complications, the pair slowly realize that what they’ve been searching for may already be right in front of them.
In addition to directing, Gluck also reworked the screenplay for the film. His previous rom-com success Anyone but You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, became a surprise box-office hit in 2023, earning more than $220 million worldwide.
The supporting cast includes Molly Ringwald as Owen’s mother and LeVar Burton as her partner. The ensemble also features Maya Hawke, Julia Fox, Este Haim, Ziwe, and King Princess.
One Night Only is produced by Will Gluck and Jacqueline Monetta under their Olive Bridge Entertainment banner.
The romantic comedy is set to arrive in theaters on August 7. Universal Pictures has also released the official trailer, giving audiences a first look at the film’s energetic, heartfelt, and comedic take on modern love.
